Piezography K7 ink shades 2-7 are both matte and glossy compatible. For matte printing, the Piezography Shade 1 matte black ink is used. For glossy printing including baryta, the use of Photo Black shade 1 and Piezography Gloss Overprint is required. The Gloss Overprint is applied as a second printing.
The use of Piezography Gloss Overprint completely eliminates bronzing and any trace of gloss differential. When properly applied it is impossible to tell where the ink ends and the paper begins.
This Gloss Overprint is not used in Piezography Pro. Piezography Pro systems use a Gloss Chroma Optimizer that is printed simultaneously with the inks.
Piezography Gloss Overprint is also popular with Epson, Canon and HP color photo studios seeking to make their color output stand out from the crowd. On color prints, a second printing of Piezography Gloss Optimizer equalizes gloss differential and creates an image that is more photographic than "inkjet". QuadTone RIP can be used to control this coating in a supported large format printer. For example, any supported legacy Epson printer with at least one functional print head can be used to produce the overcoat. Make use of that old Epson printer in the corner!
Carbon tone, Neutral tone, Special Edition tone, Selenium tone, Warm Neutral tone
Piezography Gloss Overprint is compatible with all Piezography K7 inks when those inks are used with the Piezography Photo Black shade 1 option. Piezography Gloss Overprint is intended to be used as a second printing over these ink systems to equalize the gloss and remove all bronzing. They are intended for use with Piezography K6 and K7 GO profiles when used with QuadTone RIP according to the Piezography Manual which can be found the instructions tab of this item. Piezography Gloss Overprint can also be used as an overprint on Epson Ultrachrome inks on Glossy papers to remove bronzing and to equalize the gloss differential. The same success is possible over HP glossy pigment ink prints.
JonCone Studio Type 5. This paper was developed by Cone Editions Press for printing "air dried" glossy look fine color and black & white prints - and is sold exclusively by InkjetMall. This paper is without optical brighteners and is therefore a warmish white sheet - near the color of Museo Silver Rag, but without the decorative texture. This paper features a convincing photographic surface. Think of it as a non-decorative baryta paper. Those who print on it know it as the the best baryta surface for Piezography. Period! One of the unique features of this sheet is that like a true baryta paper, it is coated on only one side. This is one of the few glossy or baryta papers on the market that you can sign on the verso with a pencil. It also makes it sensitive to humidity changes during printing. It is best to acclimate the paper first if you take it from a very dry environment into a more humid environment. This is THE HOUSE PAPER of Cone Editions Press for fine Piezography printmaking.
