A warm white, glossy, ultra-smooth baryta paper surface made from 100% rag (cotton) coated on one side with an excellent inkjet receptor coating. The paper is both acid-free and lignin-free for exceptional long life. The weight of this sheet is 290 gsm making it a moderate weight paper that can easily be passed through desktop printers, but substantial enough to not feel "lightweight."
This paper was developed by Cone Editions Press for printing "air dried" glossy look fine color and black & white prints - and is sold exclusively by InkjetMall. This paper is without optical brighteners and is therefore a warmish white sheet - near the color of Museo Silver Rag, but without the decorative texture. This paper features a convincing photographic surface. Think of it as a non-decorative baryta paper. Those who print on it know it as the the best baryta surface for Piezography. Period!
One of the unique features of this sheet is that like a true baryta paper, it is coated on only one side. This is one of the few glossy or baryta papers on the market that you can sign on the verso with a pencil. It also makes it sensitive to humidity changes during printing. It is best to acclimate the paper first if you take it from a very dry environment into a more humid environment. This is THE HOUSE PAPER of Cone Editions Press for fine Piezography printmaking.
This sheet is reminiscent of an air-dried fiber base paper traditionally used in the darkroom. It offers amazing dMax when used with Piezography MPS Glossy inks (requires use of GO to eliminate bronzing.) Selenium inks are absolutely perfect for this paper - producing a what appears to be a lightly toned warm paper. All Piezography inks are compatible with this surface provided that a MPS shade 1 black is used and Piezography Gloss Overprint.
Very effective with ConeColor inks as well as most brands of dye and pigment inks. For use with all kinds of inkjet printers.
