The Piezography Professional Edition (PPE) is a set of tools and workflows and documentation for linearizing and customizing Piezography curves. PPE has three parts. One part is the added tools found in >Piezography>Tools. The second part is the Piezography Error Correction Tool that will be emailed to you separately. The third part is The Piezography Manual Deluxe Edition that documents the Piezography and PiezoDN Curve Profiling workflow. *Piezography DIY Linearization Tools require a google account!
21 STEP SCANNER TOOL
This tool allows you to print a 21step target, scan it in with a good scanner, and linearize a Piezography curve with the scanned values.
CURVE ADJUSTMENT TOOL
This revolutionary tool allows you to make a Photoshop adjustment curve and then directly burn that adjustment curve into a Piezography “.quad” curve as a “tuning intent.” This enables you to add or decrease contrast in a curve that has already been linearized.
51 STEP ERROR CORRECTION TOOL
This tool utilizes unique algorithms by Piezography to correct for measurement errors in Spectrophotometers. This is the first tool used to calibrate Piezography curves. The algorithms make a much smoother calibration of your Piezography curve than if you were to average multiple readings from multiple 51 step targets.
129 STEP ERROR CORRECTION TOOL
After calibrating a curve with 51 steps, the 129 step Error Correction Tool is used to measure a final 129 step target and calibrate the final perfect Piezography curve. This iterative process is what makes Piezography Professional stand out in quality and performance.
PIEZOGRAPHY PRO BLENDER TOOL
This unique tool allows you to blend together warm and cool Piezography Pro curves in a much more advanced way than the QuadtoneRIP curve sliders. The seven bezier control points allow precise split-tones of the printed image and also give you the ability to more accurately build perceptually neutral curves for any paper. The Piezography Pro Blender Tool makes simulated L*A*B* data to soft-proof the toning in Photoshop before you even hit print! This tool basically works by splicing two QuadtoneRIP Piezography Pro ink curves (warm and cool) together into one curve. The tool is open-ended: people will most likely come up with more unique ways of using it beyond simply split-toning that we haven’t even thought of! * It is not for beginners though.
THE PIEZOGRAPHY MANUAL, DELUXE EDITION
This manual is ever growing. It includes extra chapters on how to Linearize Piezography and how to calibrate the PiezoDN negative.
Piezography Pro Edition has monochrome targets in 21, 31, 51, 80, 129, and 256 step increments and it has i1Profiler pxfw workflows and ColorPort .xml descriptors for a ton of different xRite devices including the i1iO and ISIS2. It also includes 51 and 129 step targets for ColorMunki and Spyder spectrophotometers.
